Turbulence Is Not a Warning…it’s a Signal!

As we move deeper into this fast, the Lord highlighted a single word in my spirit: turbulence.

Last year, the Lord impressed upon me that we would be entering into a season of acceleration. That season will continue, but as God accelerates us, we must be prepared for turbulence.

The first important note: Turbulence ≠ Danger

Spiritually speaking, turbulence is not a warning of destruction.

It’s a signal of movement.

In the natural:

  • Turbulence happens in transition
  • It happens when speed increases
  • It happens when air layers collide

The same principle holds in the Spirit:

  • Calm seasons are often for rooting.
  • Turbulent seasons are often for crossing.

What Spiritual Turbulence Usually Means:

When God allows or highlights turbulence, it often points to one or more of the following: Acceleration, altitude change, pressure realignment, training for stability.

  • Acceleration
    • Things begin moving faster than your comfort level
    • Decisions carry more weight than they previously did
    • Small choices have an expanded impact
  • Altitude Change
    • Old ways of thinking, leading, or carrying responsibility may no longer work like they used to
    • You’re passing through layers you haven’t occupied before…new territory
  • Pressure Realignment
    • Internal strain (mentally, emotionally, spiritually)
    • External friction (misunderstanding, resistance, opposition)
      • I have mentioned that the enemy is really working overtime to produce offense. As God aligns our pressure and takes us higher, we must not hold on to offense or resentment. Remember Sunday’s sermon, we can’t eat from the table of Christ and the table of demons at the same time.
  • Training for Stability
    • Turbulence doesn’t mean the aircraft is weak.
    • It means it’s being tested in motion

==============

Now, let us keep in mind that Jesus promised PEACE, not calm.

“In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”(John 16:33, ESV)

Notice:

  • Peace is internal
  • Circumstances may still shake

Paul echoed this reality:

“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair.” (2 Corinthians 4:8, ESV)

That’s very much so, turbulence language.

Now, brothers and sisters, God is not saying, “brace for disaster”, “something is about to break”, or “you are out of my will.”

God does not warn His sons and daughters to panic; He prepares us to remain steadfast!

What To Do in a Season of Turbulence

This matters more than interpretation.

  1. Don’t Overcorrect

Pilots are trained not to fight turbulence aggressively.

Spiritually, this means:

  • Don’t make rash decisions
  • Don’t quit assignments prematurely
  • Don’t abandon what God clearly established

  1. Tighten What Should Be Tight
  • Prayer rhythms
  • Time in the Word
  • Rest
  • Integrity

Here's some seatbelt "theology" for us":

  • Stay buckled to what you already know is true.

  1. Reduce Unnecessary Weight
  • Extra commitments
  • Emotional noise
  • Voices that amplify fear instead of faith

  1. Trust the Structure

We are not being tested for survival.

We are being tested for how we steward in motion

Remember:

Turbulence doesn’t mean you’re losing altitude.

It often means you’re gaining it.

Stay present.

Stay anchored.

Stay obedient.

The One who called you knows exactly how you’re built—and He is not nervous about the conditions you’re passing through.
